A collaboration with Mustapha Chaouai, one of the artisan leaders from Morocco's first national co-operative Anou, presented an exciting opportunity to create a collection of lanterns designed to embody a unique personal heritage; a combination of weaving a metal work.
Constructed from steel and sabra, a sustainably sourced vegetable silk thread native to Morocco, the forms of the lanterns were directly informed by a single character from the Tifinagh alphabet; Aza, which represents ‘freedom’ and is recognised as the symbol of the Amazigh people.
